Guillermo was born in Argentina and has lived in Miami since 2002. He has a degree in Accounting from the National University of Cuyo in Argentina.

Director
Roberto has a degree in Business Administration from the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Brazil (1973). He worked in Technology at the Casa de la Moneda and the International Airport of Rio de Janeiro until 1978, when he came to obtain his MBA at New York University (1980).

Dr. Patrick Scannon
Project Recover
Patrick graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, Medical College of Georgia, M.D., (1976); University of Georgia, B. S., Chemistry, (1969). He also received a Ph.D., in Organic Chemistry (1972).
He is the Founder of the Bentprop Project , co-founder and President Emeritus of Project Recover.
Project Recover began as Patrick Scannon’s vision to bring MIAs (Missing In Action) home from Palau in 1993. The organization has grown from a grassroots effort to a team of dedicated professionals and volunteers using innovative science to bring american MIAs home. Over nearly three decades, the team has located more than 30 US World War II aircraft associated with more than 100 MIAs in missions around the globe.
Dr. Scannon has helped our Foundation with priceless advice and sharing all his experience in this humanitarian activity.

Dr. Eric Terril
Project Recover
Eric has an engineering degree from the University of California San Diego and a Ph.D., from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography.
As Director of the Marine Physical Laboratory at Scripps, he oversees a broad research portfolio that spans technology development, physical oceanography, underwater acoustics, and robotics. He has published on a wide range of research topics, including the use of emerging undersea technologies to find and locate aviation wreckage associated with MIAs.
He is a co-founder of Project Recover and has 32 years of diving experience.

Oceanographer Jose Rivera
NOAA (National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration)
Jose has a Ph.D. course work in Ecology, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC, M.S. Biological Oceanography UPR, Mayaguez, and B.S. Biology UPR, Mayaguez, 1973.
Jose’s impressive background begun almost 40 years ago, always related to marine resources management. His awards, publications, projects, and studies turn Jose into one of the world’s most respected professionals in this branch of science.
He has also collaborated since 2016 with our Foundation in the search effort of the Caribbean coast of Panama and Costa Rica by providing drift buoy data from NOAA’s AOML Laboratory to help determine the accident location.
Oceanographer Maria J. Olascoaga
University of Miami - RSMAS Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science
Maria Josefina grew up in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she received her Master’s in Oceanography from Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA). She also obtained her ScD from Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior (CICESE). She then moved to Miami to pursue postdoctoral training. In 2008, she joined the Faculty at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami, where her research focused on the study of transport and mixing of biogeochemical tracers in the ocean.
She has published over 30 peer-reviewed scientific publications, and her work has been highlighted by Eos and featured on the BBC.
Dr. Daniel Benetti

Dr. Daniel Benetti is a Professor and Director of Aquaculture at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science.
He has over 40 years of experience in aquaculture worldwide. Besides his academic and research responsibilities, he carries out scientific and R&D projects on technology development and environmental issues related to aquaculture
He has published over 150 articles in aquaculture science, technology and production, has been a consultant for the private and government sectors and is internationally recognized for his contributions to modern aquaculture. He has extensive experience with the industry and has been a consultant for the government and private sectors in Latin America, U.S., Europe, Asia, Caribbean, Africa, Australia and the Middle East. He collaborates with researchers and institutions the world over.
Benetti has been a member of the SAB’s at a number of committees such as FAO, (Food and Agriculture Organization), WWF (World Wildlife Fund), Seafood Watch, the Pew Oceans Commission, among others.
He currently chairs the prestigious Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) Finfish, Crustacean and Mollusk Hatcheries and Nurseries Certification Standards Committee.

Captain Marcelo Covelli

Marcelo received a bachelor’s degree in Maritime Transport at the Naval University Institute (2007)
He is also a former Officer at the Argentine Naval Prefecture, Technical Navel Rank, Specialty Navigation, and Maneuvers.
His current position is National Director of Investigation of Maritime, River and Lake events, Transportation Safety Board, Ministry of Transportation, Presidency of the Nation (Argentina)
He is Instructor /coordinator at the Centro Maritimo de Simulacion Dr. Manuel Belgrano and Academic Director at Escuela de Capacitacion Maritima Omar Rupp.
Thanks to his vast experience and publications, he has been awarded numerous distinctions.
Among other participations, he was a member of the Group of Advisors of the Investigating Commission of the ARA San Juan submarine accident.
Captain Marcelo Covelli actively participated in our 4th Expedition planning in the area adjacent to Puerto Limon in Costa Rica in 2018.
Comodoro (R) Roberto BRIEND
Fuerza Aérea Argentina
Comodoro Roberto BRIEND is a member of the thirty-first promotion of the Argentine Military Aviation School. During the Final Instructional Voyage X, he was a passenger on the T-43, where TC-48 also participated.
He graduated from EAM in December 1965 and completed the Military Aviator Course during the years 1966/67.
He served as a Flight Instructor in the Specialization Course for Fighter Pilots at the IV Air Brigade, and he was a pilot and Flight Instructor on Canberra aircraft at the II Air Brigade. He specializes in the Prevention and Investigation of Air Accidents.
He participated in the South Atlantic Conflict as a crew member of C-130 and KC-130 aircraft. Between May 1 and June 14, 1982, his crew completed seven aerial refueling missions and four aerial supply missions, landing three times at BAM Malvinas.
Between October 1983 and November 1985, he was stationed in the Middle East as a Military Observer for the United Nations, serving as Operations Officer and Deputy Chief of the Golan Observers Group, based in Damascus, Syrian Arab Republic.
He held the positions of Chief of the Air Doctrine and Policies and Strategy Departments of the General Staff of the Air Force. He was the Head of the II Bombing Group and I Aerial Photographic Group at the II Air Brigade in Paraná, Entre Ríos.
On May 22, 1991, he received the Emblem of the Campaign of the Malvinas Islands and the Medal of the Honorable Congress of the Nation, awarded to the Malvinas Islands veterans, Law 23,118.
In 1994, he voluntarily requested his transfer to the Retired Status of the Air Force.
From 1995 to 2005, he served as a Official of the United Nations. He was the Head of the Aviation Section in the United Nations Missions in Western Sahara and the Republic of Guatemala. He was the Head of the Air Security Section in the United Nations Missions in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Haiti and worked in the Air Security Section at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Between 2007 and 2017, he held the positions of Chief of Aeronautical Professional Area and Academic Subsecretary at the Argentine Military Aviation School Cadet Corps.
On September 29, 2023, he received the “Order Heroes of Malvinas” decoration with the rank of “Medal of Honor for Valor in Combat.”

He is a member of the EAM thirty-first class and traveled in the T43, on the same final training trip in which TC-48 took part.
Brigadier D Gustavo A Piuma Justo graduated from the Military Aviation School in 1965 and took the military aviation course in 1966.
In 1982, he took part in the South Atlantic and the Falkland Islands operations, as a combat crew of the Mirage V airplanes.
On May 21, he was overthrown in air combat, during the Battle of San Carlos, when the British forces were landing.
In 1983 he was sent to the Middle East as a military observer for the United Nations, serving as patrolling officer near Golan, Lebanon, and Jerusalem.
On April 2, 1983, the President of the Nation gave him the medal “The Argentine Nation to those Injured in Combat”.
In 1995 he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier and was appointed Director of the Military Aviation School and Head of Córdoba Air Garrison.
In 1999, he became part of the Technological Applications Center of the University of Salvador.
On May 22, 1991, he received the Emblem for the Falklands Islands Campaign and the Medal of the Honorable Congress of the Nation, granted to Falklands Islands combatants, Law 23118.
On August 17, 1993, he received the medal “The Argentine Nation to the Courage in Combat”.
